Mein Jahr in England

After having to stay with an Indian Witnesses-of-jehova-family for 6 months, I was finally able to move to a wonderful new family in Sutton Coldfield (just down the road from Birmingham) - and I really enjoy the life there. On this blog you can read relevant and irrelevant stuff about my high school year, including film reviews, photos, videos and more! Enjoy! And here you can see the one and only, the wonderful... ad! 8 days left - a reflection

Now that there are only a few days left for me in my beloved England, it's time for me to reflect on all the things that I will miss when I am back home - and the things that I will be glad to have again... So here is a little list of all the things that are more or less important to me - it is strange that sometimes you just don't notice how much you like certain things until you cannot have them anymore...

So now, in no particular order:

Things I will miss:

  • Salted butter

  • the English language

  • BBC

  • Sue

  • my independence

  • Birmingham and Sutton Coldfield

  • Internet in my room

  • my English and non-English friends I made here

  • Pies

  • DOCTOR WHO!!!

  • Casualty

  • Holby City

  • Holby Blue

  • St John Ambulance

  • St Edmund Campion RC School

  • cheap clothes and book shops

  • the always-late 115 bus

  • pancakes

  • crumpets

  • scones

  • the 1-Pound Shops

  • baked potatoes

  • Health&Safety regulations (they are really great fun!)

  • Brownies

  • chocolate cookies from Tesco's

  • Tesco

  • Co-op

  • Doctor Who Confidential

  • BBC iplayer

  • Catholic masses

  • Computer room, common room and toilets just for Sixthformers!

  • saying "thanks" or "cheers" to bus drivers

  • older ladies calling everybody "sweetheart" or "love"

  • queueing (this word just looks SO wrong, but according to the dictionary it's written correctly)

  • argos

  • 2 apple pies for GBP 1

  • woolies

Things I have missed:

  • My family (of course)

  • My friends

  • ASB

  • the former žMollotow"

  • my school

  • DLRG

  • my Oboe and Recorder lessons

  • Spinach lasagne

  • pancakes

  • Bretzel (I hate writing "Pretzels"!)

  • "real" sausages

  • affordable ice cream

  • Harry Potter and Lotr

  • Nature

  • Knödel

  • Sauerkraut

This list will be completed soon...

You will get spinach lasagne, Brezel, ice-cream and your family the very first day -isn't that great. And we can introduce the English language when your dad is not around...:)
